Tree characteristics: hardy, upright-spreading, moderately vigorous to vigorous, fruit borne mainly along the branches, away from the trunk but not at the tip, productive; leaves: elliptic, mostly serrate, sometimes double serrate, with large teeth, underside hairy, apex cuspidate to acuminate, base obtuse, sometimes a little oblique, length : width ratio 1.68, petioles 1.8 to 2.0 cm long with persistent small stipules.
Flower characteristics:
Fruit characteristics: size varies from small to medium depending on the year, round-conic, prominently ribbed on body, a bit lopsided in 50 % of fruit; basin: deep, narrow to medium width, five-crowned and wrinkled near calyx; calyx: mainly open but can be partially open, lobes are persistent and erect, calyx tube is urn-shaped, stamens are in basal position; cavity: acute, deep, medium width, russeted; stem: mainly long but can vary from medium to very long, thin to medium thickness; core: in distant position, closed to partially open, with meeting core lines; carpels: height 15 mm, width 10 mm; skin: thin, dull, a bit waxy but without bloom, yellowish-green to yellow with a faint pink blush on sunny side, russet spreads from the cavity to make a fine smattering of dots and little lines all over the apple in 10 % of the fruit, with a low number of very visible lenticels which tend to russet; flesh: juicy, firm, melting, creamy-white with a tinge of yellow, slow to brown after cutting; flavor: pleasant, slightly acid, sweet; end use: good for fresh eating; ripens October 3 (Frelighsburg, QC).
Post Harvest, storage: after 5 months in regular cold room: fruit is firm (pressure test: 6.18 kg), acidity is average (0.5990 %), soluble solids are high (14.3 %), juice is honey colored.
Other characteristics: resembles Golden Delicious, susceptible to apple scab.
Adaptation & availability: Good for Quebec and Eastern and Central Canada. A limited number of budwood is available from the breeder after signing a non-propagation agreement (only to universities and research stations).
